Michael Moore, producer and director of such landmark films as “Roger and Me” and “Bowling for Columbine,” gives a talk at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Shoreline Community College in Shoreline.
Moore gained the public spotlight in 1989 with “Roger &Me,” a political satire that documents Moore’s quest to convince GM chairman Roger B. Smith to visit Flint, Mich., and witness the devastation wrought by GM plant shutdowns on Moore’s hometown. The film appeared on more than 100 critics’ lists of the 10 best films of the year.
Moore’s latest film, “Bowling for Columbine,” is an in-depth look at America’s fascination with guns and violence and the culture that feeds this. The film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary at the 75th annual ceremony March 23. It received a special jury award at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.
Moore created the Emmy award-winning TV show, “TV Nation” and “The Awful Truth.” His most recent best-selling book was “Stupid White Men: and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation.”
General admission is $15, $13 for seniors and $10 for children 14 and younger; call 206-546-4606 to order tickets.
