YMCA gives back during holidays

The Northshore YMCA is offering a chance to “give back” to the community during the holiday season. Each year the Y has partnered with YMCA members, other community groups and individuals to help families in need by providing food and gift baskets.

Those who know someone in need can call the Northshore YMCA at 425-485-9797 and ask for Vana Moore or Lori Vos.

School collecting gifts for Hopelink

As part of its 2002 holiday charity project, Mill Creek Elementary is collecting gifts for Hopelink’s Northshore gift room.

Students will be collecting new, unwrapped gifts through December 18.

Hopelink serves more than 300 local families each week. For three days during the holiday season, Hopelink transforms its food banks into gift rooms where homeless and low income parents can find gifts for their children.

Vistor’s center accepts donations

The Snohomish County Visitor Information Center is accepting new toys, clothing, and household items for donation to the Christmas House of Snohomish County. Donations of food items and toiletries will also be accepted for donation to the Everett Gospel Mission. You may drop off items at the visitor center off of 128th St. near the Holiday Inn . The Visitor Center is open 9-5 daily. Call 425-348-5802 ext. 0 for more information.

Council, fire meeting changes

The Mill Creek City Council has cancelled its meeting scheduled for December 24. The council will next meet on Tuesday, January 7.

The Board of Commissioners for Snohomish County Fire District #7 have changed their regularly scheduled meeting on December 26 to December 23 at 8 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Headquarters Station, 8010 180th Street SE.

Street closures

are coming

Motorists in the Mill Creek area are advised that construction will cause single lane closures on 168th Street SE and at the intersection of 170th Pl SE and 29th Drive SE from Dec. 16 through Feb. 28 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
