Mountlake Terrace Dance Company’s Modern II/III class will present three performances this weekend of the annual recital that closes the company’s school year.

This year’s recital, titled “One World,” “takes us around the world and has exposed even our tiniest dancers to the artistry, beauty and power of dance,” said Kristina Dillard, coordinator of Mountlake Terrace Dance.

The ages of dancers in the recital range from 3 to 18 years. The styles vary from creative movement, tap and ballet to hip-hop, modern and jazz.

“This event is our entire school’s chance to shine, to bring to the community a showcase of our hard work, passion and creativity,” said Kristina Dillard, coordinator of Mountlake Terrace Dance.

The Modern II/III class danced in competition for the first time this year, earning second place awards in two dance events in the Puget Sound area. The group has been selected to compete at the national Encore Performing Arts Competition at the Red Rocks Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. at the end of June.

The dance company is located in the Recreation Pavilion owned by the City of Mountlake Terrace and operated by the City’s Department of Recreation and Parks. All proceeds will benefit the Mountlake Terrace Dance Company Scholarship fund.
