Coinciding with the 220th construction project is the annual street repaving project, which is taking place on 220th Street SW, from 52nd to I-5; and 58th Avenue W., from 220th to Jack Long Park.

The project includes replacing selected segments of concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk, milling the surface of the existing pavement, paving a two-inch thick layer of asphalt concrete and installing new pavement markings.

Specific improvements include changing the street from a four-lane to a three-lane configuration from 56th to 52nd avenues, providing a continuous middle left turn lane and eliminating left turns through travel lanes.

Also included in the improvements will be the synchronization of the signal at 220th and 56th with the signals to the west of 220th Street, to allow better traffic flow.

Wilder Construction Company, the low bidder on the project at $298,000, received the work contract.
