Ronald Bog Park will stay, Ronald Bog Park.

The Shoreline City Council followed a citizens committee recommendation in rejecting a request by Shoreline Rotary and Shoreline Breakfast Rotary to rename the facility as Rotary Park at Ronald Bog.

The Rotary clubs made the request at the Sept. 23 council meeting and outlined involvement by club members since 1990, before the city incorporated. The clubs have done brush removal, worked with King County to have an old house removed, paid for a park master plan, donated thousands of dollars for flowers and trees and planted them and worked to design and build the shelter at the edge of the pond.

An advisory committee to the city’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department recommended that the name not be changed but rather that city pursue some other way of honoring the clubs’ involvement, such as a plaque or informational kiosk.
