The Lynnwood Police Department will have a new Acura MDX as the official vehicle for the domestic violence program.
At the Nov. 5 meeting, the City Council approved accepting a donation of the vehicle from Acura of Lynnwood.
“The Acura MDX is a sport-utility vehicle that will accommodate our domestic violence coordinator’s interactions with domestic violence crime victims and their families,” according to police department report to the council.
“Our domestic violence coordinator is often responsible for interviewing and transporting victims of domestic violence and their property. The vehicle will be affixed with graphics promoting the awareness of domestic violence.”
The police department will have possession of the vehicle for 24 months. Mileage will be limited to 12,000 miles annually. The police department will be responsible for the vehicle’s insurance, licensing, graphics and fuel costs. These costs can be provided for in the police department budget. Acura of Lynnwood will provide and pay for the vehicle’s maintenance.
The new vehicle will replace a 2005 model, also donated by Acura of Lynnwood.
