A new playground at Forest View Elementary School is open to students and, after school hours, to the public.

Forest View installed Phase Two of its climbing structure this month after much fundraising.

For Phase One, the PTA raised about $41,000 and for Phase 2, they raised and donated more than $17,000 toward the newly installed playground equipment.

The money was raised from events like the Falcon Fun Run held Oct. 1.

The Phase Two donation was matched with about $21,000 from Snohomish county’s YARD program.

Playground equipment was bought at a very competitive price because the district took advantage of a relationship with the non-profit organization U.S. Communities, said Mary Waggoner, district public information officer. The non profit leverages competitive bid and purchase agreements with public entities across the country.
