Jackson’s Richard Oam, the No. 1 seed, defeated teammate Alex Lin, the No. 2 seed, 6-3, 6-2 to take the Western Conference South boys tennis singles championship Oct. 21 at Jackson High School.
Both advanced to the district tournament.
In the doubles championship, the top-seeded Edmonds-Woodway pair of Scott Sheldon and Willie Guo defeated Shorewood’s second-seeded team of Jesse Knutson and Spencer Mestel 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.
Edmonds-Woodway Ryan Cho and Steven Guo defeated Jackson’s Nick Kang and Brian Bae 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to take third place.
All four doubles teams moved on to districts.
The 4A District 1 tournament began Thursday and concludes Saturday, Oct. 28 at Stanwood High School. The top three singles and doubles teams qualify for the state 4A tournament which takes place in Vancouver next May.
