Officer of the Year named at ceremony for Edmonds Police

Edmonds Police Department recognized public-safety contributions by their own and others in an awards ceremony conducted May 14 in conjunction with National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Week.

Named Officer of the Year for the department was Officer William Nelson. Officer Anthony Collins was named Reserve Officer of the Year and Officer Gregory Mills was given the DUI Award for his work with removing impaired drivers from roadways.

Recipients of the Edmonds Police Foundation Group Award were Ed Baker, Matt Rinaldi, Don Eager, Carol Robinson, Norm Hagen, Gail Welfringer, Harold Huston, Bruce Witenberg, Paul Jacobson, Jack Zapara and Nancy McDonald. Citizen Service Awards were presented to Kristine Hovde, Amanda Hovde Muth, Shanna Halsey, Daniel Munro, Clark M. Cooper and Jackie R. Cooper.

Receiving Letter of Commendation Awards were Sgt. Jim Nelson and Detective Bill Johnson of the Lynnwood Police Department; Detective Corey Williams of the Mountlake Terrace Police Department; and Edmonds Officers Joshua McClure, Bradley Paulson, Melbre Moore, Damian J. Smith, Timothy Dreyer, Linda Mack, Shane Hawley and Jason Shier.

Other recipients of the commendation award were Cpl. Robert L. Barker and Sgts. James Lawless, Michael Blackburn and David Machado.
