Just put one foot in front of the other and run, walk or stroll Sunday, Aug. 28 in Lynnwood Rotary’s second annual Hi!5 Community Run.
The races — including 10K and 5K runs, 2K walk and Kids’ Dash — begin and end at The Terraces at Alderwood mall.
Registration for the race begins bright and early at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28. The cost for day of race entries is $25. Events start in 15 minute succession, beginning at 8:45 a.m. with the Kids’ Dash, 9 a.m. for the 5K and 10K runs and 9:15 a.m. 2K walk.
Both the 10K and 5K runs are USATF certified courses for runners only. The 10K run winds through commercial and residential neighborhoods and the 5K route encircles Lynnwood’s commercial area.
The 2K walk is an easy and level course around Alderwood’s perimeter for walkers and those with strollers, with no streets to cross. The Kids’ Dash is open to children ages 10 and under.
A clothing drop will be provided in the assembly area for run participants. There will be water stations on the course as well as a water/aid station located in the assembly area. An assortment of refreshments will be available to participants as they finish their events.
The 10K and 5K runs will be timed using Winning Time chip technology. There is no additional fee for use of the chip, but it must be returned at the finish line after completion of the events. There is a $30 charge for chips not returned. Results will be posted immediately following the event at www.perfecttimeevents.com and will also be posted at www.hi5festrun.org and www.promotionevents.com.
Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K runs. Medallions will be awarded to the top three male and female participants in both the 5K and 10K runs in the following age categories: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over. Ribbons are awarded to all finishers in the Kid’s Dash.
Proceeds from the Hi!5 Community Run will benefit Lynnwood Rotary Foundation community projects, which include affordable housing, senior citizen housing, vocational training of local students in house projects, cash grants and scholarships to local students and international humanitarian work.
