A drug overdose caused the death of a 19-year-old man found dead near his Mill Creek home this July.
Stephen J. Zevenbergen died from “acute intoxication” due to the effects of cocaine, oxycodone and alcohol, the medical examiner’s office reported. Oxycodone is a prescription painkiller that has gained a national reputation as a choice drug for addicts.
Officials had no ruling on whether the death was a suicide or an accident. But Kristi Zevenbergen, Stephen’s step mother said, “It was definitely not a suicide … he was making plans for the next day.”
Zevenbergen’s body was found at about 10 a.m. July 14 close to a bridge just off 140th Pl. SE near the Vine Maple housing development where he lived with family.
