Gomez is UW Bothell MBA Programs’ winner

The University of Washington Bothell MBA Programs announce Juan Camilo Gomez, Ph.D., an assistant business professor, as the 2010 MBA Professor of the Year.

Gomez was selected by a vote of the 2010 MBA graduating class. Student Nathan Smith said, “Few things illustrate the captivation and enthusiasm exuded by Dr. Gomez more than the fact that 37 students regularly looked forward to his cconomics lectures each week, despite the fact that they were held between 8 and 10 at night.”

Upon accepting the award, Gomez said, “I believe success in the classroom is impossible without challenging students. Coupled with my passion for teaching, my approach is to expose students to complex economic models and a higher level of quantitative proficiency. But an even greater challenge is to go past the equations and gain economic intuition: make the material applicable to the everyday decisions a manager must make.”

Gomez earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota with minor fields in game theory and financial economics.
