Visit the Edmonds Art Walk this Thursday, Feb. 19 for an evening of local visual arts, live music, demonstrations and tastings with downtown Edmonds merchants.
Live music this month includes David Little’s piano at ArtsNow/Edmonds Conference Center, country music karaoke at Johnny’s Sports Bar &Grill and
Stig and Friends at Dolce La Belle.
Art demonstrations will feature spinning yarn at Pennies from Heaven, travel photo tips at Rick Steves’ beginning at 6 p.m., oil painting at Running In Motion, watercolors at Aria Studio Gallery and textiles at Manya Vee Selects.
Don’t pass up sampling wine and appetizers — truffles and wine at Reliable Floor Coverings, Washington wines and cheeses at Ombu Salon, homemade muffins and tea at Restoration Natural Health, Austrian goodies at Edmonds Frame, wine and appetizers at Festivities Fine Gifts, wine at Arista Wine Cellars and cheese at Resident Cheesemonger.
Get started on your walk at Johnny’s Sports Bar &Grill where you can enjoy country karaoke music right down at the ferry. Festivities Fine Gifts offers wine, appetizers and mixed media monotypes by April Richardson. At HouseWares, find Colleen Lambert’s seascapes and still lifes. Interiors of Edmonds presents Howard Frank’s impressionist landscapes. The ArtsNow Gallery at the Edmonds Conference Center features the works of 13 of the 2008 Arts Now/Artist Trust EDGE graduates. Rick Steves’ Europe Through the Back Door will host a free class on taking travel photos, at 6 p.m. with Patricia Ridenour. Pennies From Heaven features Mary Jones demonstrating the art of spinning fiber into yarn.
Continue on to Salon Pena to view Kim Tepe’s textile landscapes and scenes. At Semantics Gallery, Tove PisaRelle’s acrylic paintings are featured.
Running In Motion highlights Quata Cody’s oil paintings. Artwork inspired by The Max Foundation and its mission can be found at the Resident Cheesemonger, while at Manya Vee Selects, see how Sabrena Wright transforms belts, suits, linens into fashionable handbags.
Coldwell Banker Bain hosts Bobbie AuBuchon’s print-making, her work a constant process of experimentation. Arista Wine Cellars hosts Susan René’s whimsical acrylic views of the world of dogs and cats. At C’est la Vie, author Dan Zadra will sign “5: Where Will You Be Five Years From Today.” Bluefish Designs features Nancy Farrar-Coughlin’s watercolors, bringing mystery to an impressionist scene. At Edmonds Frame Design and Atelier, see Edmonds waterfronts anew through the lens of Bob Sears. Dolce La Belle hosts Willow Bader’s encaustics, unmasking the sensual physicality and boldness of the Tango.
J Rankin Jewelers hosts artwork by wish kids from Make-a-Wish Foundation. The Edmonds Bookshop features Nola Unger’s collages, bits and pieces collected from nature. At Cole Gallery &Artists Supplies, view Jeff White &Michael Orwick and their stunning atmospheric landscapes. Gallery North’s February show, “The Colors of Water,” a collection of water themed paintings by Mary Anderson, is on display. Reliable Floor Coverings spotlights Andrea Huysing’s colorful photos, which offer surprising angles and textures. Ombu Salon displays Irene Wood’s mixed media organic dreamscapes of natural wonder.
Further along the path find the Edmonds Library, where vivid colored pencil drawings by Kay Dewar are on exhibit. The Frances Anderson Center &EAFF Gallery hosts the evocative mixed media sculptures by Fred Birchman. Restoration Natural Health hosts Catherina Macek’s floral photographs. At Autumn’s Framing &Gallery, Sharyn Sowell’s scissors create wonders out of paper. Aria Studio Gallery features new paintings and photographs by Joan E Archer and Leah K Goodwin. At Fabric of Life, view art quilts by Contemporary Quilt Art Association members and enter a quilt raffle. Edward Jones hosts Dana Hunting’s mesmerizing B &W photos that capture cities and architecture with flair. Your final stop is Olives Café &Wine Bar, where the chef/owner’s parents show abstract art, encaustic creations.
