Playoff time has arrived

It’s time for what we’ve been waiting for all year: The playoffs in week 10.

Jackson, Edmonds-Woodway, Meadowdale, Archbishop Murphy and King’s are still alive and all but E-W have home games in the first game.

It’s win or go home for all those teams and all have a good shot of advancing to state.

Will Jackson’s high-powered offense be too much for Tahoma?

Will Edmonds-Woodway get Tony Heard back and make another deep run starting against Kentwood?

Will Meadowdale live up to its potential against Nathan Hale?

Will Archbishop Murphy continue to roll against Bellingham and bury the memory of what happened last year?

Will the young King’s team show how much it has improved and win a rematch against Lynden Christian?

Find out the answers to those questions this weekend and read about it in next week’s Enterprise.

Edmonds-Woodway at Kentwood

Game time: 7 p.m, Friday, Nov. 7 at French Field.

Records: Edmonds-Woodway 7-2 overall, Kentwood 7-2.

Last year’s result: Did not play.

Last week’s results: Edmonds-Woodway 41, Shorewood 17; Kentwood 24, Kentlake 13.

Players to watch: Edmonds-Woodway senior running back Tony Heard is expected to play after sitting out the Shorewood game. Junior quarterback Andy Willcock likes to throw to senior wide receiver Din Kuses. The two hooked up for three touchdowns last week. Kentwood’s Darrius Coleman ran for two touchdowns against Kentlake. Coleman averages 8.8 yards a carry and is close to 1,000 yards.

Breakdown: The return of Heard should be a big boost for the Warriors, who are looking to make it back to the state semifinals for the third straight year. After a loss to Jackson, Edmonds-Woodway has won five straight games. Willcock continues to progress as a quarterback with favorite target Kuses. The Edmonds-Woodway defense must find a way to shut down Coleman, a 6-0, 185-pound running back. Edmonds-Woodway is a team that travels well.

Enterprise pick: Edmonds-Woodway 27, Kentwood 20.

Tahoma at Jackson

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Records: Tahoma 6-3 overall, Jackson 8-1.

Last year’s result: Did not play.

Last week’s results: Tahoma 38, Graham-Kawpowsin 14; Jackson 40, Cascade 27.

Players to watch: Tahoma running backs Josiah Anderson and Kurt Lafranchi are bruising running backs who each weigh about 200 pounds. Senior Stone Connell is a solid wide receiver. But Tahoma has plenty of other standouts as five different players scored in the team’s victory over Graham-Kapowsin. Jackson is led by junior quarterback Andy Gay, who threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns against Cascade. Running backs Taylor Cox and Riley Carr give the Wolfpack one of the top backfields in the state. Wide receiver Jordan Kellington has been coming on strong.

Breakdown: There appears to be little doubt that Jackson will be able to put up points on the board with Gay, Cox and Carr. No teams have been able to slow down the trio. The Wolfpack defense faces an offense that runs formation as diverse as the Wing-T and shotgun spread. Jackson will be fired up before what should be a big crowd at home. It’s been a long time since the Timberwovles have been in the playoffs, so they’ll need to steady their nerves early on.

Enterprise pick: Jackson 35, Tahoma 21.

Nathan Hale at Meadowdale

Game time: 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at Edmonds Stadium

Records: Nathan Hale 6-3 overall, Meadowdale 5-3.

Last year’s result: Did not play.

Last week’s results: Bishop Blanchet 27, Nathan Hale 3; Meadowdale 28, Everett 21.

Players to watch: Nathan Hale quarteback Jordan Sullivan likes to air it out a lot with some of his favorite receivers, Marco Henry and Chris McKinney. Running back Michael Fields ran for four touchdowns in a win over Cleveland. Meadowdale’s Ben Shebly powered his way for four touchdowns against Everett, while speedy Naji Moore-Taylor galloped for 154 yards. Senior quarterback Matt McDonagh will look to tight end Connor Hamlett or Cameron Bayer.

Breakdown: The up-and-down Mavericks appear to be on an upswing after beating Lynnwood and then Everett to wrap up the regular season. The Mavericks will look to control the ball on offense with Shebly and Moore-Taylor in the backfield. McDonagh leads the experienced backfield. Nathan Hale appears to be a team that can run the ball or throw it depending on the defense. Edmonds Stadium should be packed with the Maverick faithful

Enterprise pick: Meadowdale 28, Nathan Hale 17.

Bellingham at Archbishop Murphy

Game time: 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at Goddard Stadium

Records: Bellingham 5-4 overall, Archbishop 9-0.

Last year’s result: Archbishop Murphy 28, Bellingham 6 (Wildcats had to forfeit due to ineligible player).

Last week’s results: Blaine 27, Bellingham 21; Archbishop Murphy 37, King’s 12.

Players to watch: Bellingham has a trio of strong running backs led by senior Jeremy Rick. Archbishop Murphy quarteracks Austin VanderWelland Jake Downs have produced a solid passing attack that includes wide receiver JD Melton and Jake Robinette. The backfield also includes top running backs Kelso Wilkins and Randy Gordon.

Breakdown: A year after having its season end off the field, Archbishop Murphy returns to the playoff with a mission to get to the Tacoma Dome. The Wildcats have started strong in almost all their games and they will be fired up. It’s likely the returning players want to make a statement.

Enterprise pick: Archbishop Murphy 49, Bellingham 14.

Lynden Christian at King’s

Game time: 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at Woolsey Stadium

Records: King’s 4-5, Lynden Christian 4-5

Last year’s result: Lynden Christian 25, King’s 6.

Last week’s results: Archbishop Murphy 37, King’s 12; Friday Harbor 35, Lynden Christian 6.

Players to watch: King’s sophomore quarterback Thomas Vincent has thrown for over 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns this season and he is the team’s offensive leader. His favorite targets include Nick Swanson, Curtis Clauson and John Burley, but the latter has a injured ankle and is questionable to play. Lynden Christian is led by running back Niels Brisbane, who suffered a stinger last week, but will likely play. Daniel Ten Broek completed 13-of-22 passes last week for 116 yards but had two interceptions.

Breakdown: Lynden Christian has a solid running game with Brisbane if he’s healthy and also likes to play-action pass. King’s Vincent has a plethora of receivers to throw to and he can also pick up yards with his legs to balance out the pass. Injuries to Burley and linebacker Paul Lutgen could affect King’s, so young players might have to step up.

Enterprise pick: King’s 28, Lynden Christian 20.

Enterprise last week: 5-2.

Year: 48-15
