A possible attempted abduction of a 13-year-old boy in Edmonds’ Westgate neighborhood has police looking for a white male suspect in his 20s driving a dark green SUV.

The boy was not physically harmed, but police are investigating the incident that happened Feb. 4 in the 21900 block of 96th Avenue West.

The boy was walking home from a basketball game at Westgate Elementary around 5:40 p.m. that Monday when a dark green SUV pulled up behind him and stopped, according to police.

The vehicle’s driver, who was the only person in the SUV, opened the passenger door and angrily ordered the boy to “get in now,” the victim told police.

The boy did not know the driver, so he turned and ran home.

The suspect then drove slowly through the neighborhood, eventually departing northbound on 96th Avenue West, police said.

The suspect is described as a white adult male in his 20s, heavy build and approximately 6 feet tall. He had short straight hair, a goatee and was wearing a white sleeveless shirt, police said. The suspect also had a silver hoop nose ring, according to the victim.

The suspect’s vehicle was a dark green SUV, possibly similar to a Ford Expedition. No license plate information is available, but the vehicle may have a dent in the passenger side front door, police said.

Edmonds police have asked anyone with information regarding the incident to call the police department’s tip line at 425-771-0212.
