About 600 Seattle City Light customers lost power the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 11, when a dump truck from an Aurora Avenue nursery clipped a cable.

“No one was injured in the accident and we were able to get service back in place,” said Scott Thomsen, strategic adviser with Seattle City Light.

Customers lost power at 10:40 a.m. when the truck caused the short while traveling in the right- of-way near 185th Street and Aurora Avenue. Seattle City Light crews were able to fully restore power by 11:50 a.m.

According to Thomsen, the outage ecompassed Northeast 205th Street on the north, Northeast 165th street to the south, 55th Avenue Northeast to the east and Aurora Avenue North to the west.

Thomsen called the boundaries “rough” and said not all Seattle City Light customers in the area lost power.

The Shoreline School District office located on 185th Street, Meridian Park Elementary and Echo Lake Elementary all lost power during the outage.

Power outages can be reported by calling Seattle City Light at 206-684-3000 between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Information about power outages is available by calling the power outage hotline at 206-684-7400.
