The wonders and beauty of nature come alive with Janis C. Graves’ touch. Her pastels will be on display at Edmonds’ Gallery North from Dec. 6 through Jan. 2, 2005.

“Pastels are so vibrant and immediate,” states Graves, “that they excite to the point of dancing.” Graves’ scenes come alive with her masterful depiction of a great variety of textures, scenes, and moods. Slippery kol slither in the pond; a rooster’s feathers cry out to be stroked in their softness, and the warm glow of a fading sunset sets the tone for relaxing after a long day.

Graves is an award-winning pastel artist with works housed internationally. She has exhibited her pictures around the state and even has one continually on the move. Her “Sunset Reflection” is on the Washington State ferry Cathlamet, which runs between Mukilteo and Clinton.

Graves will be in attendance for an artist’s reception planned from 6 to 8 p.m. during Art Walk Thursday, Dec. 16. Gallery North is located at 508 Main Street, Edmonds. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday and until 8 p.m. during Art Walk Thursday. For more information, call 425-774-0946.
