The Archbishop Murphy express continues to roll.

Next stop: The Tacoma Dome for a Class 2A state semifinal clash with Mark Morris.

The Monarchs will be the 12th team this season who will try to slow down the Wildcats. The previous 11 have not had any success.

Archbishop Murphy jumped all over Interlake last week, opening up a 35-6 first quarter advantage. Eventually, the lead became so lopsided that the running clock mercy rule went into effect with 4:37 go to in the third quarter as the Wildcats pushed the lead to 58-13.

Mark Morris had a much tougher time, pulling out a 36-31 victory over Anacortes. The Monarchs had to score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

The reward for the winner is a berth in the Class 2A state championship game on Dec. 4 at the Tacoma Dome.

Enterprise sports department’s record for picks last week: 1-0

Season to date: 45-11

ARCHBISHOP MURPHY VS. MARK MORRIS

Game time: 1 p.m., Saturday at Tacoma Dome

Records: Archbishop Murphy 12-0 overall; Mark Morris 8-3 overall

Last week’s results: Archbishop Murphy 58, Interlake 13; Mark Morris 36, Anacortes 31

Players to watch: Arcbishop Murphy’s ground attack amassed 567 yards and scored eight touchdowns against Interlake. Running back Alex Galgano rushed for 203 yards on nine carries and scored three touchdowns. Teammate Alex Kramer added 133 yards on four carries and Eneliko Tevaga had 82 yards on 16 carries. Three running backs rushed for more than 100 yards each in Mark Morris victory over Anacortes. Dan Feeney ran for 157 yards on 26 carries with four touchdowns. Jeremy Wolf added 125 yards on 23 carries and two TDs and Nikko Asbell had 100 yards on seven carries.

Breakdown: The Wildcats are one step away from returning to the Class 2A state title game for the first time since 2005. The offense seems to be firing on all cylinders behind a line that is regarded as one of the best in the state. At some point, either in the semifinals or the finals, expect the Wildcats to air it out with quarterback Austin VanderWel. Mark Morris survived a tough game against Anacortes, scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The Monarchs’ luck likely runs out this weekend.

Enterprise pick: Archbishop Murphy 40, Mark Morris 14
