The Edmonds-Woodway track team came away with several solid performances at last weekend’s Eason Invitational at Snohomish High School.
Tiana Roma took second place in the high jump with a height of 5-foot-4, one inch below Sharon Bjella of Everett, who finished first. It was the first time Roma has cleared that particular height this season.
Freshman Caitlin Booney finished third and set a school record of 46.20 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.
“It was neat to see her do that,” said Edmonds-Woodway coach Kolleen Seals. “It was the first time where she had some really good competition with her.”
Senior Kelsey McCallum took seventh place in the 1,600.
The 400 girls relay team finished fifth overall and the 800 relay team placed eighth. Both squads set school records.
Edmonds-Woodway’s boys 1,600 relay team placed third and the distance medley relay team finished second.
Meadowdale coach Kris Maraveller also left the meet feeling good after some solid efforts from her athletes.
Kelsey Nagel took fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 38-31/2. Freshman Monika Gruszecki finished sixth in the javelin.
The girls distance medley relay team placed eighth.
Kevin Myhre was sixth in the 300 hurdles and helped the 1,600 boys relay team place eighth.
“He won’t let anybody pass him in the 4 by 4,” Maraveller said of Myhre.
Lynnwood’s top performer was Vince Kinney, who nabbed eighth place in the 300 hurdles. Kinney was coming off a strong effort at a Wesco 4A South Division competition two days earlier. Kinney took first in the long jump, triple jump, high jump and 400.
Lynnwood’s girls distance medley relay team finished fifth.
