The Shoreline Goodwill’s Job Training and Education Center, 14500 15th Ave. NE, is registering people for free job-training classes.
The eight-week Retail and Customer Service Training Program runs from Aug. 10 through Oct. 1. Courses teach those with significant barriers to employment valuable skills to find and keep jobs. Classes meet 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
Participants will learn how to use computers in a retail environment and to maintain the appearance of a store and merchandise. They will also learn “soft skills” needed to get and keep a job, such as communicating well with others and working with a team. Basic, intermediate and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) computer courses are also offered.
Sign up is on a first-come, first-served basis, so interested residents are asked to contact the center soon to reserve a spot.
