A recent letter from Shoreline resident Stan Terry suggested Republicans “Should be proud to be Republican and not disguise the fact” (“Republicans need to take ownership of party,” Oct. 8).
While I don’t consider myself a “Republican,” I am a social and fiscal conservative, and I don’t disguise the fact. I am rewarded for my efforts with anonymous calls from people screaming obscenities. Liberal acquaintances have told me that Sarah Palin is evil, or that Dick Cheney should be shot. These are people who seem rational on the street, but turn into rabid partisans when the issue of politics is raised.
I can’t question a liberal politician’s motives, but it’s OK for the left to spread vicious lies about the minor children of a Republican candidate.
The famous liberal bumper sticker, “Hate is Not a Family Value,” has been replaced with “George Bush is a Lying Sack of S—-!”
I completely understand why “Republicans” may want to keep to themselves.
