The Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Arts Council welcomes the Children of the Revolution Quartet to Cromwell Park for a free performance July 18.
In 1998 vocalist Vassili and guitarist Eric Jaeger joined musical forces to create Children of the Revolution. They experimented for six months, blending music from their Greek and flamenco roots with American rock influences. After meeting Barcelona-born flamenco dancer/guitarist/vocalist Encarnación and belly dancer/vocalist Amelia, they began to perform in Seattle clubs. Special guest and electric violin virtuoso Geoffrey Castle joins them for this special performance.
The show that evolved is a non-stop rollercoaster, weaving effortlessly through rock, flamenco, ska, Greek, Turkish, salsa, R &B, Middle-Eastern and even hip-hop.
Children of the Revolution has packed a broad spectrum of Northwest venues ranging from Meany Hall, Benaroya Hall, Bumbershoot, Folklife Festival and the Paramount theatre. They have toured regionally through the Northwest and Canada and performed for over 30,000 people in Puli, Taiwan. The group has performed live on radio and TV stations nationally and internationally.
COTR recently released a new CD, “Liberation,” and have a concert DVD, “The World on One Stage,” which originally appeared on PBS stations across the country.
