Ryan’s recollection of senior center wrong

As a youngster I really enjoyed westerns. I recall in one of those movies an Indian chief made reference to a pale face by stating he talked through “forked tongue.”

In his most recent column in the Mill Creek View, Terry Ryan takes credit for finding 2,500 square feet in the Annex building (also known as the Huntron Building) for our Senior Center. Nothing could be further from the truth. In the fall of 2005 when Terry Ryan was the mayor, the seniors were emphatically denied any space in the Annex. Could it be that Terry Ryan is now speaking through “forked tongue”?

Last summer the Mill Senior Foundation circulated a petition among Mill Creek residents to develop support for a permanent senior center. When approached, Terry Ryan refused to sign the petition supporting the seniors. Could it be that Mayor Ryan is now speaking through “forked tongue” by claiming he is for anything having to do with the seniors?

The individuals who have contributed the most to achieve a temporary upgrade to the Annex are Bill McElroy, Chairman of the Mill Creek Senior Steering Committee; Bill Durham, Senior Center Manager; and the seniors, themselves, who have been given little acknowledgement for their unselfish multi-contributions to our city.

Terry Ryan wants to take credit for something he had little to do with and in fact opposed in the past. Could it be that Terry Ryan is willing to say anything to keep his City Council Seat?
