Lynnwood Police investigate homicide
Three men were taken into custody in connection with a fourth man’s slaying at the Heather Ridge apartment complex July 14.
Police responded at 10:42 p.m. to reports of a fight and found the man’s body outside in a courtyard common area of the complex, in the 20400 block of 68th Ave. W. There were obvious signs of trauma.
While interviewing witnesses, a vehicle drove by the complex with three occupants matching witness descriptions. The three men, ranging in age from 20 to 33 years old, were arrested at the scene and booked at Snohomish County Jail.
The victim has not yet been identified. The medical examiner is determining cause of death.
Detectives believe that the suspects and victim were acquaintances and that this was an isolated incident. They are working to determine a motive for the crime. Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call the Lynnwood Police Department at 425-670-5600.
Police Foundation receives grant
Allstate insurance agent Mike McGinness presented the Edmonds Police Foundation with a $1,000 grant as part of the Allstate Foundation’s Agency Hands in the Community program.
The program, which began in 2003, recognizes Allstate agents’ volunteerism within the community and provides financial support to organizations through the Allstate Foundation.

July 15: THEFT. 21600 block 76th Ave. W. Golf clubs were stolen from the trunk of a car parked at Stevens Hospital.
July 14: THEFT. 20800 block 76th Ave. W. Toys were stolen from a vehicle overnight.
July 13: ANIMAL. 1000 block Alder St. A cat was killed by a BB gun. No suspects.
Jluy 12: Malicious Mischief. 16100 block 76th Place W. Gang-related graffiti was found on a city of Edmonds sewer lift pump building.
July 12: Malicious Mischief. 21600 block 84th Ave. W. Reported graffiti on playground of elementary school and garbage can burnt over the weekend.
July 11: THEFT. 8400 block 244th St. SW. Three men ate a meal and left the restaurant without paying their bill.
July 10: ANIMAL. 1000 block Main St. Victim reported being bit by a white, 2-year-old Maltese as he rode his bike.

July 18: THEFT. 4600 block 200th St. SW. A man reported his wallet and cell phone stolen from his unlocked vehicle.
July 18: WEAPON. 17300 block 37th Ave. W. A 40-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the abdomen.
July 18: Malicious Mischief. 18800 block 75th Ave. W. Someone attempted to throw a landscape brick through a window of a vehicle. There was damage to the window and hood of vehicle where the brick landed.
July 17: Suspicious circumstances. 5600 block 198th St. SW. Suspicious circumstances involving a man approaching a woman and asking her to take a walk and become his girlfriend.
July 17: THEFT. 18200 block Alderwood Mall Parkway. A woman reported a digital camer and PDA stolen from her vehicle.
July 16: ACCIDENT. 5000 block 200th St. SW. A delivery van hit a bicyclist in the bike lane. The driver was cited for improper lane travel. The bicyclist was cited for not wearing a bike helmet.
JULY 16: ORDINANCE VIOLATION. 21200 block Poplar Way. A Brier man was driving an ice cream sales vehicle was stopped for driving with headphones on. Investigation showed him to be doing business without a city business license. Infraction issued.
JULY 14: TRAFFIC. 21200 block Poplar Way. An Everett man was stopped for talking on his cell phone. Computer check on his driving status showed it suspended. He was cited for Using a Wireless Device While Driving and Driving While License Suspended Third Degree and released.
JULY 12: ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY. 24000 block 27th Place W. A Brier woman reported someone attempted to gain entry to her residence by prying open the rear sliding patio door. Tools used to pry the door left at the scene were found to belong to the homeowner.

July 18: Court order violation. 4000 block 212th St. SW. A mother called 911 after her son violated the restraining order she served against him. When police officers arrived at her apartment, the woman’s son was hiding in her closet.
July 17: Domestic. 21400 block 48th Ave. W. A female backed her car over her boyfriend in the parking lot of their home. She said it was unintentional. Driver said while she was backing out, her boyfriend yelled, “You ran me over,” but she didn’t believe him.
July 17: Theft. 22000 block 66th Ave. W. Restaurant manager said two women left without paying their $84 tab. He said the patrons were in their mid-20s and left in a 1990s model, green four-door sedan.
July 17: Harassment. 5900 block 232nd St. SW. A woman came to the police station to report her former boss was sending “vicious” messages, calling her a slut and a whore, to her Facebook account.
July 16: Harassment. 22300 block 54th Ave. W. A female said her ex-boyfriend kept texting and calling her after she asked him to stop. The ex-boyfriend told police officers he in fact was the one being harassed.
July 14: Harassment. 24200 block 58th Place W. A male resident reported another male was swearing and yelling at him after the resident asked him to not touch his property. After the police contacted the harasser, he allegedly threatened to shoot the resident and his family if they ever called the police on him again.

July 13: Pedestrian vs. car. 23800 block 54th Ave. W. A pedestrian was hit by a car in Mountlake Terrace. The driver fled. The pedestrian was unconscious when firefighters arrived.
July 11: Fire. 13300 block Highway 99. Firefighters responded to a fire that heavily damaged a garage and mobile home at a mobile home park north of Lynnwood. No one was injured. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office determined the cause of the accidental fire was electrical.
July 10: Window fall. 800 block 149th St. SW. A toddler fell out of a second-story window onto a cement patio at a home west of Mill Creek. The 22-month-old boy sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by medics to Harborview Medical Center.
July 10: House fire. 18600 block Larch Way. Firefighters responded to a house fire east of Lynnwood. No one was home and there were no injuries. The fire caused about $175,000 damage.
July 10: Motorcycle collision. 228th St. SW and 35th Ave. W. A motorcyclist crashed in Brier. One patient was transported by ambulance to Stevens Hospital.
July 10: Collision. 164th St. SE and Third Ave. SE. Firefighters transported one patient to Stevens Hospital after responding to a collision west of Mill Creek.
July 10: Cars vs. house. 4500 block 137th St. SE. Two cars crashed into the front deck of a house east of Everett. One car sheared off the staircase and came to rest in the yard. The other car was wedged under the deck, and the driver and a medium-sized dog were trapped in the wreckage. As crews attempted to free them, the scared dog bit one firefighter. Firefighters were able to get a collar on the dog and restrain it so they could continue their rescue efforts. The driver was transported by medics to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
