Choral Arts Northwest choir joins forces with organist David Dahl to present a holiday program of seasonal choral music, organ solos, and carols on Friday, Dec. 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood.

The program will recall Choral Arts’ popular “Organ/Carol” concerts which they did under the auspices of the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall several years ago. Featured this year will be some of the a cappella “hits” from their best-selling CD, “A Scandinavian Christmas” — new compositions or arrangements of traditional Swedish and Norwegian melodies by modern composers. Dahl will perform organ selections mostly from the French repertoire, including pieces by Marcel Dupre. Choral Arts, directed by Richard Sparks, will also combine with Dahl in pieces by English composers John Rutter and Charles Stanford (the latter’s “Magnificat in G”). Other composers represented include Hugo Distler, Jackson Berkey, and Jeffrey Van. The program will also include carols for the whole audience to sing along to.

Trinity Lutheran Church was chosen for the performance to showcase its ornate 29 stop, 2 manual, mechanical action pipe organ built by Martin Pasi Organ Builders of Roy, Wash.

“A Scandinavian Christmas” will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, in Lynnwood. Advance tickets are $14 general, $12 seniors, $10 students, available by calling the church at 425-778-2159. Tickets will also be available at the door for $18 general, $14 senior, $10 student.
