Teacher plans run for council seat

Silver Firs Elementary School music teacher Jackie Minchew announced that he planned to file this week as a candidate for Everett City Council.

Minchew, 55, will challenge Arlan Hatloe, council vice president, for Position 3.

He said he is running for political office because he thinks the city’s government is a bit too much about meeting the needs of the business community and not enough about meeting the needs of the people of Everett.

Minchew is a member of the Everett Education Association and plays trombone with the Everett Symphony.
