Edmonds accepts bids on Lynnwood High

The Edmonds School District is taking the next step in building a new Lynnwood High School by inviting contractors to submit bids for the project at 18217 North Road in unincorporated Snohomish County.

The project will replace the existing Lynnwood High School complex across from the Alderwood mall in Lynnwood, and the start of construction is scheduled for May 2007.

Construction cost for the new two-story, 214,000-square-foot school designed by Bassetti Architects is estimated at approximately $60 million. Site work includes improvements to North Road, as well as new athletic fields, tennis courts, jogging trails and on-site parking. This is a pilot project for the state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction’s sustainable schools program and features state-of-the-art technology for controlling energy consumption and day-lighting.

Pre-bid meetings are scheduled for March 15 and March 20, and the district will open bids on April 11 at the district offices. Logging of the site is due to be complete in time for start of construction in May.
