UW program seeks applications
A University of Washington program designed to help disabled students be successful in challenging college programs is now accepting applications.
The Disabilities, Opportunities, Internetworking and Technology program (DO-IT) loans students laptop computers for long-term use for school and work. It allows the students to network online with DO-IT staff.
Students accepted into the program also attend summer study sessions at UW. They live in residence halls and navigate the campus, which gives an early primer on college life.
Eligibility requirements for the program include: Being a sophomore or junior in high school, an interest in attending college, a significant disability that could include limited mobility, learning or sensory functions and an interest in interacting with other students with disabilities.
For more information, contact the DO-IT office at 260-685-3648. To download an application, visit www.washington.edu/doit/programs/scholar.html.
