Lovicks host JHS band fund-raiser

The Jackson High School Band will be the featured entertainment from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at the home of Karen and John Lovick.

Karen and John are serving up John’s famous Cajun deep-fried turkey, hot wings and JoJo potatoes. All are welcome to this fund-raising event with suggested donations of $25 per person. All funds will go to the Jackson High School band to be used for the band’s programs, including the students’ spring music tour and to purchase new equipment for the band program.

EdCC hosts business seminar

A one-day seminar, “Doing Business With China,” with Shanghai attorney, David Z. Mao, a senior legal consultant with Davis, Wright, Tremaine LLP and a keynote speech by former Gov. Gary Locke, will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Edmonds Community College’s Edmonds Conference Center, 201 4th Ave. N., Edmonds.

The seminar will cover information appropriate for businesses of all types interested in exploring markets in China. The cost is $139, box lunch included.
