Merit Scholarships announced
More than 2,200 additional winners of Merit Scholarship awards financed by colleges and universities have been announced by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Officials of each sponsor college selected their winners from among Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
Locally, Mark DeChadenedes of Everett, a recent Archbishop Murphy High School graduate, received a scholarship and plans to study engineering at Gonzaga University.
Students make honor rolls
The following Mill Creek residents were named to the Central Washington University 2005 spring quarter honor roll: Rachel Renee Johnson, Brooke E. Logan, Kay C. Lunes, Emily K. Ogura and Melissa J. Thompson. CWU undergraduates who earn a 3.5 or better grade-point average, on a 4.0 scale, while carrying at least 12 graded credit hours of study are eligible for the honor roll.
Bucknell University announced Matthew Markovich of Bothell was named to its dean’s list for the spring semester. Students at Bucknell must receive a 3.5 or higher grade-point average to meet the requirement. Bucknell is located in Lewisburg, Pa.
Resident Elizabeth Mustin was named to the dean’s list for spring semester at Washington University in St. Louis. To qualify for this honor, Washington University students must achieve a 3.5 or higher grade-point average and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.
