Skills lecture and book signing

The University of Washington Bothell is hosting a lecture featuring 2003 Distinguished Speaker Gary Orfield at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10 in the North Creek Cafe on campus.

The lecture will discuss research strategies and will be followed by a book signing. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is $1.

JHS PTSA looking for support

Each year, Jackson High School PTSA awards scholarships to graduating seniors who will attend a four-year university, community college, vocational or technical school.

To continue this tradition, the PTSA is seeking donations from the Jackson community of families and the local businesses that serve them. Contributions should be sent by April 1 to finalize the number of scholarships to be awarded.

Mail your tax-deductible checks payable to: Jackson High School PTSA Scholarship Program, 1508 136th St. SE Mill Creek, Wash. 98012.

EvCC scholars honored

Everett Community College students Thao Wild and Renee Roberts have been selected as the 2003 Washington State Scholars from Everett Community College.

They will be honored in a ceremony in Olympia at noon on March 27 in the Student Union Building on the South Puget Sound Community College campus.

President Charlie Earl, Vice President for Student Services Rich Haldi and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society advisors will also represent the college at the ceremony.

Each scholar will receive a $250 scholarship provided by a KeyBank $17,000 donation.
