Sports: Volleyball, basketball and softball
Goals: “My goals for the year are to compete at a high level in all three of my sports, while having a great time with my teammates. I want my senior year to be memorable not only because of success, but also because of fun with friends.”
Honors: First-team, all-league in softball
Highlights: ”During the winter of my sophomore year I was invited to go to China to play softball with the Washington Cultural Exchange. It was the highlight of my athletic career because it took me around the world to meet with kids who live in a completely different culture than my own. I’ll always remember the amazing things I saw and did, including walking on the Great Wall of China. Also, my two trips to state (softball in 2009, and basketball in 2010) were awesome experiences.”
Biggest asset:
Pregame routine: For basketball and volleyball, eating a medium sized meal, like Subway or sushi, and listening to music. For softball, eating a Pop-Tart, but usually giving the crust to a teammate.
Athletic role model: Muhammad Ali. “I admire his confidence. He believed he was the greatest and performed like he was the greatest. He also outsmarted his opponents for the victory, even when they were much bigger and threw harder punches than he did.”
One word that best describes you: Driven
Favorite academic subject: “I’ve never really had a favorite subject in school, but I’ve always enjoyed math. I liked the challenge calculus brought me last year.”
Post-high school plans: Playing softball at the college level.
Best advice from a coach or fellow athlete: “I’ve been told by many coaches (and many others) that grades come first. Sports are a privilege, not a right, and to earn that privilege you have to perform in the classroom first.”
Favorite leisure activities: Spending time with friends, watching movies and listening to music.
Favorite snack: Almond Joy
Super Bowl pick: No idea
