The 70-plus member Sno-King Community Chorale, under the direction of Frank DeMiero, will close out its concert season with two performances: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 6215 196th Street in Lynnwood.
Featured on the program will be selections from one of America’s all-time favorite musicals, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma” — “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “People Will Say We’re in Love,” “The Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” to name a few.
“Amor de Mi Alma,” a love ballad based on a poem by 16th century author Garcilaso de la Vega, will be sung in Spanish, and a Brazilian folk tune in Portuguese.
Humor often finds its way into the Chorale’s repertoire and this concert is no exception: the “tragical tale” of “The Grasshopper” will be performed.
“Our Pops concert is usually a sell-out,” says Chorale President Marianna Hanefeld, “so we urge people to get their tickets early.”
The Sno-King Community Chorale is affiliated with Edmonds Community College. Proceeds from the June 19 concert will benefit Multiple Sclerosis Helping Hands, a non-profit organization which provides support, financial aid and recycled mobility equipment through its Donor Closet.
Tickets are $10 each for either performance. For tickets or program advertising information, call 425-673-7671.
