Spartans earn hockey title

The Shoreline/Seattle Spartans blanked Kamiak/Jackson 3-0 in the Western Washington High School Hockey League Division I championship game May 28 at Kingsgate Arena.

Following a scoreless and fast-paced first period, Shoreline/Seattle took a 1-0 lead 10:25 into the second period on Erik Reisinger’s goal, set up by Kevin Bunstine and Allen Varner.

Reisinger and Daniel Taibleson assisted on Jon Carpenter’s goal early in the third period and the score remained 2-0 until Kamiak/Jackson pulled its goalie with two minutes to go.

Justin Ross blasted an unassisted goal into the open net for the Spartans at the 13:44 mark of the final period. Karl Peterson recorded the shutout in goal.
