Shorewood gymnasts finish second
The Shorewood gymnastics team, led by senior Elle MacGeorge, finished second at a four-team meet in Port Angeles Jan. 6.
North Kitsap won the meet with an overall score of 143.9 to beat out Shorewood which scored 142.2 points.
Port Angeles finished third with 128.95 points and Shorecrest came in fourth with 122.75 points.
MacGeorge and North Kitsap’s Melissa Kunold tied for first in the all-around with a score of 32.45.
Shorecrest’s Megan Farris took third (30.85) and Shorewood’s Crystal Bugai finished fifth (30.45).
Kunold won the vault with a score of 8.5. Bugai tied for third with a 7.8 and Farris was fifth with a 7.65.
MacGeorge won the uneven bars with a score of 7.5. Bugai placed third with a 7.3 and Farris came in seventh with a 6.7.
MacGeorge notched an 8.9 to win the balance beam. Farris finished second with an 8.0 and Shorewood’s Julie Hayes tied for fourth with a 7.7.
Kunold won the floor exercise with a score of 8.8, beating out MacGeorge who scored an 8.6. Farris tied for third with an 8.5 and Bugai took fourth with a 8.35.
