CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL: The Everett Explosion, a new semipro basketball team, offers a free Christmas carnival featuring games and entertainment. Explosion players, owners, employees and dance team members will be on hand. The carnival will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 during Mill Creek Snow Day at Gold Creek Community Church, 4326 148th St. S.E. in Mill Creek.

BASKETBALL LEAGUES: The City of Edmonds is hosting a 5-on-5 basketball league on Monday nights starting Jan. 8 at Edmonds Community College. Upper and lower divisions. A 3-on-3 half court basketball league on Wednesday nights starts Jan. 3. Information: Todd, 425-771-0229.

BASEBALL ACADEMY: Northwest Baseball Academy is now enrolling students for January hitting and pitching camps. These camps are open to ages 9-13 and run Saturday or Sunday evening for four sessions. Enrollment is also open for an infield clinic hosted by Ryan Riley. This clinic is open to ages 14-18 and will run Friday evenings starting on Jan. 12.
