Subaru, a company that specializes in the manufacturing of exclusively all-wheel-drive vehicles, has thoroughly redesigned their fourth-generation AWD Legacy model lineup, which is spearheaded by the Legacy GT.
The Legacy GT draws its power from a 250-horsepower, intercooled turbocharged DOHC 2.5-liter four-cylinder, flat-opposed (boxer-type) engine with electronic throttle control. It can be paired with a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic. Non-GT Legacy models are powered by a normally aspirated version of the same motor.
The Legacys new GT styling expresses dynamic performance and sporty agility, packaged in a pronounced wedge form that sits low, accentuated by aerodynamic side ground effects, resulting in a low coefficient of drag: 0.29 sedan and 0.31 wagon.
A functional hood scoop feeds outside air to the engine-mounted intercooler. The GTs wheelbase has been increased to 105.1 inches and the overall length has been stretched nearly two inches. The car includes advanced construction techniques utilizing greater use of aluminum and high-strength steel, for greater body stiffness. The GTs all-wheel drive system on five-speed manual transmission-equipped models is the Variable Torque Distribution system.
