The Meadowdale dance team took first place at the Class 3A state dance championships March 22 in Yakima. The victory was the Mavericks’ fourth straight title. Team members include Tarah Carlson, Therese Chapman, Natalie Church, Lindsey Clifford, Kimberlee Couilliard (captain), Caitlin Donnelly, Brandy Grout, Leslie Hammar, Allison Iguchi, Natalie Johnson (co-captain), Jesse Lafferty, Kari Larson, Laurinda Rutherford, Natasha Rutherford (captain), Kelsey Strand, Brandi Templin, Tarah Thordarson (co-captain) and Nicole Wilson. Julie McClendon and Karen Michel were the coaches. Meadowdale’s three-minute routine was rated superior, the top rating giving by the judges.

The Mavericks then competed at the United Spirit Association national competition March 29 in Anaheim, Calif., where they took third place.
