Just what do you want? The city isn’t doing enough? We have 17 more snow plows than we did 12 years ago. This is the longest heavy snow we have had in my 75 years here. I haven’t had a paper in a week; the mailman has delivered, however, he had to be towed away two days in a row. You are not living on the East Coast. We don’t have snow every year and we are a city of hills.
No matter what is done, some of you are going to be angry. Putting salt down hurts the salmon, not putting salt down makes the streets icy longer. Next there will be an outcry of the expense and it is going to cost a lot of money to pay for this. Pay what? Well, the labor for all the workers who have worked long, arduous hours to try and keep traffic moving. Sand to put on all major roads. But remember, many of you voted to reverse the car tabs price years ago, giving us less revenue for roads. It is going to cost over a million for this storm.
I only prayed for power to keep warm and so far I have been very fortunate. I am counting my blessings and perhaps you should too. I didn’t get my paper, and had cabin fever; however, I think all in all the cities have done the best job they could under the circumstances.
Are you folks ready for a real weather or national disaster?
