Thai cuisine on the Menu in Lynnwood

It can often be a challenge to find a good restaurant, but at Lynnwood’s Thai Menu, the only challenge is deciding what to order.

Thankfully, I brought the only other person I know who enjoys Thai food as much as I do— my twin sister Bridgett. We are both very much creatures of habit and when we stumble upon something we enjoy at a restaurant, we tend to order the same thing again and again. At Thai restaurants, we always order Phad Thai. It is a vicious cycle.

When dining out, my sister and I also tend to order the same dish as one another. This is a tried and true method. If we order something different from one another, someone’s food always ends up looking better. On a rare occasion, we will order two different meals and share them, which also works out well for both of us.

Knowing that we always order the same thing, we seriously considered ordering something different. After all, change can be good and the menu at Thai Menu was overflowing with possibilities. However, after perusing the menu, we decided that Phad Thai really did sound good after all.

For an appetizer, we ordered Chicken Satay, which consists of sliced chicken marinated in a mixture of herbs and spices. It is served with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. My sister, a half-starved law student on spring break, suddenly seemed to have her appetite back.

Before we had finished our satay, which by the way was fun to eat on little sticks, our Phad Thai made a surprise appearance at the table. Phad Thai, which I consider to be one of the most popular types of Thai food, is a combination of pan fried noodles with eggs, bean curd and bean sprouts. It can be ordered with a choice of meat, in our case chicken. The entire concoction is topped off with ground peanuts. Although peanuts are present, Phad Thai never seems to taste much like peanuts, which in my opinion is a good thing.

As Phad Thai experts, my sister and I agreed that the main course was extremely good. This was, in fact, what I had suspected would be the case after enjoying the appetizer.

To compliment the meal, I ordered Thai iced tea, a combination of iced tea with cream which is much sweeter and thicker than regular iced tea. In my opinion, it is also much better.

My sister and I considered ordering dessert, although we were both extremely full. We finally came to the conclusion that even if we ordered dessert we likely would not be able to finish it. Had we ordered dessert, the options were coconut ice cream or sweet black rice topped with coconut milk. For people who like coconut, either choice would suffice.

The atmosphere at Thai Menu was very welcoming. Authentic decor hung on the walls and quaint tables with flowers and wine bottles were very inviting. Although there were several other customers at the restaurant, we never felt ignored. With a name like Thai Menu, there is no need to look any further for great Thai cuisine.
