“It’s a New Day,” formerly known as Queen for a Day, will offer 200 women from King, Snohomish and Skagit County shelters and transitional housing a no-cost day of beauty makeovers and encouragement.

Along with new hair styles, spa services, and free career clothing, the ladies will enjoy a catered multi-course luncheon in the Embassy Suites elegant dining room.

Volunteers are needed to escort the “queens” to each beauty station, assist in the selection of an accessorized on-the-job outfit, and offer encouragement throughout the day.

Hair stylists, massage therapists, cosmetic artist representatives, and manicurists are also needed to serve at the event.

The guests of honor at are often struggling with feelings of worthlessness because of past addictions, domestic abuse and homelessness.
