Mill Creek City Council member Mary Kay Voss kicked off her re-election campaign with an event at her home in Cypress. She announced her decision to run for a second term and recruited volunteers and contributions for her campaign for re-election to Position 4 on the council.
Two years ago she fulfilled one campaign promise by establishing the Council of Councils. This is a group of community leaders who meet four times a year to assist each other in their various efforts on behalf of the city.
Organizations represented on Council of Councils include the Mill Creek Business Association, the Mill Creek Community Association, the women’s club, the garden club, Mill Creek Rotary, Lions, and Friends of the Library, as well as the PTAs of each school. The group has funded, through the Foundation for the Arts, Mill Creek Elementary School’s courtyard art projects, as well as the garden club’s funding for the courtyard flower beds.
Voss earned her Certified Municipal Leadership designation from the Association of Washington Cities and is the first Mill Creek City Council member to achieve this distinction. She has served on the Capital Funding Committee, the Town Center Marketing group, as well as Fire District liaison. She is a longtime financial planner and business owner.
Voss is again committing to a campaign that will not feature yard signs, honoring the wishes of the many opponents of yard signs in Mill Creek. She plans on a campaign of many in-house “meet Mary Kay” meetings so she can personally discuss issues and interact with residents.
