The Wal-Mart store at 1400 164th St. SW in the Martha Lake area was evacuated shortly before 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13 after receiving a bomb threat.

As of 5:45 p.m. that day, the store had not reopened. No word was available on whether a bomb had been found.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies responded. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen also said a bomb technician and a bomb-sniffing dog from the State Patrol searched the building.

Wal-Mart managers directed traffic away from the building and blocked off the parking lot to deny access. They would not comment on the situation.

Other employees estimated it took 10 to 20 minutes to evacuate the building.

“The store was full,” said Branda Barbosa, who works at the McDonald’s inside Wal-Mart.

The call came in at 1:46 p.m., Jorgensen said. The male caller said a bomb was scheduled to explode early in the evening, she said.
