Saturday, May 14, is going to be one busy day in the Mill Creek area.
One week after the spring garage sale, three more events will provide residents with the opportunity to clean out their homes, as well as seek some bargains.
Tomorrow is the first household hazardous materials roundup to take place in the city of Mill Creek.
A project of Mayor Pro-tem Donna Michelson, the event is taking place in conjunction with Snohomish County Public Works and the city of Mill Creek.
People can bring a variety of household hazardous materials, up to 20 gallons, to be disposed of. Items include automotive chemicals, paints and pesticides.
In addition, for a fee, people can dispose of broken or outdated electronics, such as computers, televisions, microwave ovens and stereos.
Items like medical waste, asbestos and explosives may not be disposed at the event, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14 in the parking lot at Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main Street.
Also on Saturday, Friends of Mill Creek Library is having their spring used book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 15249 Bothell-Everett Highway.
The sale will include thousands of books in a variety of fiction and non-fiction genres. All the books have been donated by the community and have been stored by volunteers at space donated by Clocktower Storage.
There are many quilting and craft books, encyclopedias, cookbooks, a series on the old west, biographies and memoirs, coffee table books, best sellers, some in mint condition and some that people have purchased and donated back to the Friends.
Children’s books start at 25 cents each. Most paperbacks will be 50 cents, hard cover books $1, and bags of books at a discount after 2 p.m. There are also hundreds of children’s multimedia materials.
In addition to the two Mill Creek events, The Silver Firs II neighborhood will have a neighborhood garage sale tomorrow. Silver Firs II is located along Puget Park Drive and 148th Drive SE.
