The Mill Creek Women’s Club’s Oct. 21 program will feature Ciscoe Morris, television and radio star and author of gardening books.
Cost is $20 per person, $18 for members, and includes a lunch prepared by Mill Creek Country Club Chef Rodney Antonson.

Dogs, owners can hunt for treats
Dog owners and their canine companions are invited to a “Howl-O-Ween” treasure hunt Oct. 30 at Paddywack, a pet store in the Mill Creek Town Center.
Each dog receives an empty treat bag, then follow a trail of clues throughout the Town Center, sniffing out goodies as they go.
There is a $5 registration fee per dog, which must be paid in advance. All proceeds benefit the Grey Muzzle Organization, a North Carolina-based nonprofit that helps find homes for aging dogs.
Check in will be between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Paddywack, 15415 Main St., Suite 104.
Costumes are not required, but there will be a prize for best costume, based on a public vote. Hot cider and doughnuts will also be provided.

Annual holiday craft fair
The St. Brendan Parish School PTO is pleased to announce its 30th annual holiday craft fair. The fair will be held Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 8 from noon to 4 p.m. at St. Brendan Parish School, 10049 NE 195th St. This year’s fair features the work of more than 100 returning and new craft vendors, the holiday gift raffle, kids craft room and an assortment of soups, refreshments and baked goods at the bake sale table. The Bothell Sons of Norway plan a bazaar, bake sale and luncheon featuring Norwegian and non-Norwegian foods.

Discussion of P-patch continues
If you are a Mill Creek resident and are short on yard space, lack adequate sunshine to grow veggies, or simply want to garden in a community atmosphere, city staff want to hear from you.
The city of Mill Creek is currently looking at possible locations for a community garden. The garden site would be divided into individual plots of about 60-square-feet that could be rented annually for an estimated fee of $50. The city is still working out all of the details but would like to have the garden up and running by late spring 2010.

Four seats open on art board
The city of Mill Creek is seeking volunteers to serve on the Art and Beatification Advisory Board.
There are four positions, each of which will expire Oct. 31, 2012. The board meets the second Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. Board members must be Mill Creek residents.
Duties and responsibilities include advising the council, as requested, on special events and projects to enhance the aesthetics and beauty within the residential and business areas of the city; utilizing the municipal art fund; and selecting artwork for the city.
