The year kicked off with winter snow storms that dumped up to 16 inches of snow in some areas. City work crews and emergency responders had their hands full clearing roads and other measures to keep communities safe.
Mid-summer was marked by a sweltering heat wave. Cities across the county opened cooling stations to help people escape temperatures that climbed into the 100s.
The extreme weather calmed down for a wet autumn and the beginning of a chilly winter. This year’s winter has started dramatically more mellow compared to slick conditions drivers faced last year at this time.
