The United States Postal Service has announced a change of ZIP code for some who currently use 98037.
After reviewing the ZIP code boundaries within Snohomish County, the Postal Service determined that a new ZIP code is required for the northern portion of the current 98037 delivery area, said Lynnwood postmaster Trent McNeal.
The existing 98037 ZIP code will be split at a line along the southern edge of 164th Street SW. The northern portion to include 164th Street SW will receive the new ZIP code of 98087, according to a letter sent to postal customers in this area.
“As a result, your address will change from Lynnwood, WA 98037 to Lynnwood, WA 98087 effective, July 1, 2005,” McNeal said.
He added, this change doesn’t affect taxation rates, insurance rates, school district or voting precinct. These postal customers will also continue to use their main Lynnwood post office located at 6817 208th Street SW in Lynnwood.
“The only change will be the ZIP code of your present mailing address,” he said.
Once this change is implemented, postal customers should notify their correspondents of their new mailing address. The Postal Service will deliver mail addressed to the old ZIP code for one year, beginning July 1.
