Bromance
President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton on Sunday held the first of three joint appearances to raise money for Obama’s re-election campaign. People close to both men say their relationship has warmed significantly since the bitter 2008 nomination contest between Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, and the Big Dawg will be stumping for the president this fall.
Meanwhile, Mitt Romney’s advisers are sending former President George W. Bush’s phone calls to voice mail while they try to figure out what kind of role Bush will play in the presumptive GOP nominee’s campaign.
Postscript: After the event Sunday in Virginia, Clinton was overheard asking a group of Secret Service agents, “Hey, where you fellas headed tonight?”
Cad in court: Despite a run of salacious testimony, prosecutors in the John Edwards trial may have a hard time proving that the disgraced former presidential candidate knowingly violated federal campaign finance laws.
If they could just get the charges changed to “Being the worst husband in the world and a lying sack of horse manure,” they’d have an open-and-shut case.
