Our long national nightmare is over: After a week of flight delays that had inconvenienced travelers — including, most notably, those in the first-class cabin — Congress on Friday took steps to lift the furloughs of air traffic controllers (Page AX).

Congress’ action was taken so swiftly that you’d almost think they were flying home this weekend for a weeklong break. Oh, wait …

Uff-da: Herald writer Andrea Brown takes us on a road trip to Kitsap County, including the Scandinavian-themed town of Poulsbo (Page F1).

In May, the big deal in Poulsbo is a community celebration called Viking Fest, which includes a lutefisk-eating contest. Winners get a complementary stomach pumping at Harrison Medical Center in nearby Bremerton.

Old boys’ toy: The base model of the 2014 Corvette Stingray will start at just under $52,000, General Motors says (Page A5).

However, GM expects most ‘Vette buyers to opt for the Midlife Crisis Package, which ups the car’s cost to about $65,000 — divorce attorney and Viagra not included.
