Snohomish: Seeks volunteer for Economic Development Committee
The city of Snohomish is looking for a volunteer to serve on its Economic Development Committee.
The volunteer will replace Adam Lasky on the committee, serving the remainder of his term, which expires April 1, 2016. At that time, the member could be appointed to another two-year term.
The committee looks at ways to promote economic development by increasing retail sales, tourism, construction and living-wage job opportunities in Snohomish. It considers ways recover from effects of the economic downturn.
Applications are available at City Hall or on the city website.
Applications are due to City Hall, 116 Union Ave., by 4 p.m. on Friday.
Snohomish: City Hall featured in website video
A production company recently used an office in Snohomish City Hall while filming a website video for Bank of America.
Hungry Heart Media shot video inside City Hall for about an hour and later donated $500 to Snohomish. City Manager Larry Bauman wrote in his weekly newsletter that Snohomish is becoming popular among film crews because of its historic downtown, river views and other charms.
Lake Stevens: New library leader
Sno-Isle Libraries has hired a new managing librarian for the Lake Stevens Library. Sonia Gustafson comes from the Spokane County Library District, where she led a strategic planning initiative. She graduated from the College of Wooster in Ohio and earned a Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of Washington.
She’ll oversee the 11-person staff at the Lake Stevens Library. She started her new job June 8.
